This blanket it known as my Great Grand-pappy blanket.
When I was younger, in 8th grade, I taught myself how to crochet. I went out to the store and got the little kit that says, "I taught myself to crochet" and I did just that.
This blanket is made from Lion Brand Homespun Baby Yarn that was discontinued back in 2000.
I was in Maine visiting my pappy and my grammy, and my pappy's dad was visiting (aka Great grand-pappy). He gave all of us grandchildren some money to find something to pre-occupy our time with while we were visiting.
My mom and I took a trip to Bangor where there was a Joann's Fabrics. I walked through the front door and I saw that this yarn was on clearance. Now anyone knows that Lion Brand Yarn can be pretty expensive, so I was pretty excited that I paid $2.50 for each skein of yarn I bought. I bought a total of 15 skeins, for that is what was all that was left of this color yarn. It was so soft, and I could not wait to make this blanket.
All through high school, I worked on this blanket. I finally finished it before Great grand-pappy died before I graduated. It was one of my biggest accomplishments for high school, along with all of the other extra- curricular activities that I was joined it.
Any who, here is a picture of it with my little fur ball Friskie. He loves this blanket and will not let any of the other cats lay on it. I guess you can say old age has to do with it since he is like 14 years old.
Hope you enjoy! :)
