A Blanket for Myself

I was visiting my mom at work one day (she works at michaels :) ) and I came across this interesting pattern. It was for a blanket. Now granted I have made myself a blanket in the past (the grand pappy blanket) I have not made one for myself since I started crocheting. I decided that this was going to be an interesting pattern for me to and eagerly set out to find the colors that I wanted to do it in.

Now the picture on the pattern had mocha, camel, green, and another color that I did not care for so much. I decided that I would use the colors of my brand new painted room and my comforter set to create my blanket. My walls are this athenian sea green color and it is very calming. My bed spread is two different colors of purple: one light and one very dark almost plum dark. All of my furniture is dark mahogany. This room is my favorite spot in the house and rarely leave it because it is so homey.

The colors I decided to use were a dark mocha chocolate, a plum mist purple, a lavender purple, and a dark fern green. Each having only one row and I only used Bernat Satin Yarn.

Now, I like my blanket a little bigger then the average patterns, so sometimes I use more yarn then I am supposed to but I don't mind putting in the extra money to make myself happy. I think my starting chain was compiled of 280/300 chain links. I will post the pattern after this because I do not have it in front of me at the moment.

When I finished the blanket, I took the rest of the yarn and compiled a fringe for the blanket. I cut 6in strands of string and looped them through themselves on the edging of the blanket, following the colors of then pattern.

This blanket now sits on my bed and keeps me warm if I go outside and sit on the porch or am sitting at my desk blogging lol. As much as I enjoy it, I believe my dog, Maggie, enjoys it a little more then me. :)
